WHO is MICHAEL
WHO IS MICHAEL?
(He is GOD and holds the 2nd Position within the GODHEAD)
Is He an ANGEL? Or is He the second member of the GODHEAD? Is it IMPORTANT to know? Is it SALVIIC? YES, it most definitely is SALVIFIC!
Who is MICHAEL really and did He predate Jesus Christ or is He Jesus Christ, or is He God? Or is He all of these? ANSWER: He is ALL of these and much more. The name MICHAEL means by definition: [The ONE who IS as GOD IS]. The answers will come clear as you read further this essay.
Who fought against Satan and his angels in Heaven? It was MICHAEL with His angels. MICHAEL therefore, had the power to cast Lucifer turned Satan out of Heaven. However, the scripture clearly states that Lucifer was the "anointed" Cherub that covereth and the highest of the Angels in heaven. He "covered" over all the other angels of God.
Eze 28:14,15 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. God had (set him) as the highest of angels in Heaven's realm. The only one with more power than Lucifer turned Satan was God Himself. NOT even Gabriel could defeat Satan as is recorded in Daniel 10:13. Therefore, when the war took place and Satan was defeated the scripture states that he along with his angels were cast out. Who then did this casting out of Satan? It could only have been God and since MICHAEL means the ONE who IS as GOD IS, it was MICHAEL who fought the war and prevailed and cast Lucifer turned Satan out of heaven.
Rev 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
When did this "casting out" take place "was it before the earth was created or after it was created"? Since the scripture says that "he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him", does that mean that Satan was cast out to the earth after it was created and called "earth" by God in Genesis. During creation week during the (third day) of creation, is when God called the (dry land) earth, So did the devil at that time then come down to this planet on the third day of creation or was he here before the creation of the earth? In scripture it is said in Rom 4:17(c) God calleth those things which be not as though they were. So when the scripture says that "the Devil, and Satan was cast out into the earth it was before the Earth was created. When MICHAEL created the Earth, Satan was already here. So why did God choose to create an inhabited world of people in His own image on a "space rock" void and covered in water in which contained the fallen Lucifer and all of the fallen angels? Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
There was a reason, folks! QUESTION: What more of a fitting place to banish fallen angels too than the lifeless, dark, water covered, rock hurling at the time through space? This water covered rock contained Lucifer turned Satan along with one-third of the angelic host that sided with him banished to this pre-created planet. God chose this specific rock to create the life filled planet we know as Earth today, knowing that Satan and his angels were here? Why? As I said before there was a reason! What was that reason? It was for the reason of redemption the redemption of the entire Universe of God of which the redemption of man was only a part of that redemption. Jesus not only redeemed humanity back to God, but Jesus redeemed the Universe that had been tainted with the "iniquity" of Lucifer turned Satan because until the cross of Jesus Christ those same fallen angels and Satan had free reign to travel the Universe but only in relation to Heaven and Earth as is revealed in Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
The word LORD here in all capital letters denotes the Hebrew 'ELOHIM" which indicates the entire GODHEAD, so Satan could travel from Earth to Heaven to attend this meeting called by God. Job 2:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Satan and the fallen angels had this ability up until the time of the cross of Christ when it was spoken: Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. This was when Satan and his fallen angels were finally confined to the Earth and could go nowhere else in God's Universe from this time forward in time. They were never allowed to visit any "unfallen created worlds" in the Universe, before the Cross they could only go back and forth from Earth to Heaven, but after the cross, they were not allowed to leave this Earth.
The redemption therefore that Jesus accomplished was the redemption of both the Universe of God and that of mankind through the one LIFE, DEATH and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ living and walking in the enemy's territory. God's benevolent loving character had been tainted by Satan before the unfallen creation of God, and God's very name His CHARACTER was at stake before His creation. Satan had accused God of being unfair to him because God made the "enmity" of Genesis 3:15 available to fallen man and had provided them a way out of Iniquity whereas for Satan there was no way out of Iniquity. Why? Because Iniquity was found and originated within him and to eradicate that from the fallen Lucifer could only be done by his destruction, there was no way out for Satan, but mankind had been given through the mercy of God a "hope" of which Satan had none what-so-ever. The redemption purchased by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ not only made a way of escape for humanity for their iniquitous sinful condition, but also vindicated the character, mercy, and love of God for all of His creation.
This plan of redemption was put into place long before the fall of Lucifer and the creation of the Earth and humanity. God because He knows all things past, present, and future was not caught by surprise when iniquity arose in the mind of Lucifer that prompted his rebellion against God. God had already made a plan before Lucifer ever made his stand against God. When Jesus was with us here He made a very revealing statement to humanity that many read and overlook. Here is what He said: John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. What could those "many things" unspoken that Jesus had to "say to us" that He didn't speak audibly to the apostles and the people. One of those "many things" is the truth recorded by Zechariah, revealed to Isaiah, and Jeremiah through revelation given to them by God. First Zechariah's prophecy called the "Council of Peace" in Zech 6:12,13.
There was another meeting aside from the one found in Job 2 called by GOD in the heavens at some time in eternity past. This meeting, however, was NOT for the "Sons of God" but only for the GODHEAD and no others. The meeting was called by the Father to present to MICHAEL the redemptive plan to recover the Universe of God when the time came in the future when Lucifer would fall and be cast out to his fitting place on a water-covered rock hurling through space, that GOD had already determined He would use as a home for those in whom He would create in His own image, who would succumb to the fallen angel Satan. This meeting took place in Heaven long before the "fall of Lucifer" and the creation of this world. Zech 6 records "one of those many things" the Lord desired to reveal to those in His time on Earth, but He knew they could not "bear them" at the time and He desired not to confuse them any further than they already were.
The Council of Peace
Zec 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
Zec 6:12,13 And speak unto him, [the "him" here is MICHAEL] saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, [the GODHEAD in TOTAL agreement] saying, Behold the man [Since there was at the time "no man" in Heaven nor at this meeting, the phrase "the man" signifies that MICHAEL would become a "man" and be born as such as the Only Begotten Son of God on Earth that had not yet been created at the time of this council when the time came.] whose name is The BRANCH; [MICHAEL was specifically called the BRANCH here] and he shall grow up out of his place, [He would GROW UP on EARTH out of His rightful place in Heaven as the ONE who IS as GOD IS called JESUS] and he shall build the temple [the CHURCH] of the LORD: Even he [MICHAEL as JESUS the ANOINTED "CHRIST" of GOD chosen for this purpose] shall build the temple of the LORD; and he [MICHAEL as JESUS] shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; [His THRONE indicates that MICHAEL already had His own Throne in the Heavens before He was born as the Only Begotten Son of God which endeared Him even closer to the Father] and he [JESUS the CHRIST] shall be a [HIGH] priest upon his [OWN] throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. MICHAEL and the FATHER.
Isaiah then says: Isa 11:1-5 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. Specifically calling JESUS the BRANCH by name. And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
Then Jeremiah the prophet states: Jer 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. MICHAEL left Heaven and was born as the Only Begotten Son of God as the GODMAN and grew up on Earth out of His rightful place as "a man" to be the Savior of the World. Many will not be able to accept this one of the "many things" that Jesus desired for His people to know, but at the time He spoke that, the people were just beginning to believe on Him as the Son of God and He knew they couldn't bear the complete truth as to just who He really was.
The Scripture uses the name MICHAEL fifteen times, but ONLY FIVE of those uses apply to MICHAEL the ONE who IS as GOD IS. They are as follows:
- Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
- Dan 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
- Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
- Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the
archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses,
durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke
thee. Only GOD has the ability to resurrect one back to life, and here MICHAEL the ONE who is AS GOD IS, resurrected Moses and personally escorted him to heaven.
- Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels.
There is NOT a Christian walking the face of the Earth that when asked the question "Who Fought the Heavenly War" when Lucifer fell from Grace, and all of them should say the "war was between Christ and Lucifer turned Satan". They would be right! Now consider Rev 12:7 above and ask yourself "Who is Jesus Christ?" Jesus is MICHAEL and MICHAEL is JESUS CHRIST the GODMAN IMMANUEL God with US. Now Consider Daniel 10:13 above Gabriel is speaking here the phrase "Michael, one of the chief princes" ONE of the THREE CHIEF princes in the GODHEAD and is called MICHAEL by Gabriel. After Gabriel was relieved by MICHAEL, Gabriel went to Dainel Dan 10:21 in Persia and spoke with him in vision and called MICHAEL Daniels prince. "But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince." In Daniel 9:25 the Messiah (Who is Jesus) is specifically called the "Prince" Dan 9:25(a) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince. Therefore, the Messiah is the Prince and Michael is the prince of Daniel, so Jesus and MICHAEL are (one-in-the-same).
Then in Dan 12:1 Jesus is called MICHAEL who stands up. He is also called the "great prince" and the deliverer of the people of Daniel, and the coming King who will harvest this Earth by collecting His people who are written in the book of life. MICHAEL here is also JESUS Christ the coming redeemer. Then the last reference found in Jude 9: Here MICHAEL is spoken of by one of His other titles that of the OVER ARCHING leader of the heavenly host, He is referred to as the ARCHANGEL. The word ARCH means "overhead" or head of the angelic host, and that is Jesus Christ i.e. MICHAEL.
One would have to be both spiritually and physically BLIND not to recognize that MICHAEL and JESUS are (ONE in the SAME) GOD the second member of the GODHEAD, the SAVIOR of the WORLD, and yet STILL MICHAEL the [ONE who IS as GOD IS!]
