WHAT WAS JESUS SAYING?
WHAT WAS JESUS SAYING?
Joh 6:35-40 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread [the MANNA] of life: [I AM YOUR LIFE] he that cometh to me [We Must COME] shall never hunger; [Want for ANYTHING] and he that believeth on me [What does it mean to BELIEVE on Jesus?] shall never thirst. [Spiritually]
The QUESTION: Is "What does it mean to BELIEVE on Jesus?" On this "bread of life". Why didn't Jesus say "he that believeth in me" instead of "on me?"
The little word "on" has a specific application. If your neighbor and yourself make an agreement to meet "on" a specific day for a specific reason, let's say your moving day, you "must" have faith that your neighbor will be there "on" that day. When you say to him or her, that "I'm counting "on" you to keep your word, your neighbor says something like this "You can count "on" me I'll be there.
When Jesus said "he that believeth on me" He was saying that you can "count on Him" without "fail" to fulfill His word that when you "come to Him" He will be "found of you!" But to "come to Him" means that there can be NO YOU in the relationship, it must be ALL Him or nothing! You must believe ON HIM alone for ALL things in your life, He must become YOUR life. This is what "on me" means. To believe "on Jesus" is more personal to the believer than the phrase "believe IN" me. Believe in is "impersonal" whereas to "believe on" is absolutely personal.
EXAMPLE: You can believe in your automobiles "starter" that when you turn the key your engine will turn-over and start running. However, if you believe in a broken starter your belief is in vain because your car's starter is worthless in a broken state even if you believe IN such a starter. Believing IN something or someone has limitations, whereas "believing on" has no limitations. WHY? Because when you believe ON Jesus, you believe ON what He has done for you. You cannot believe IN Jesus without believing ON what He has done for you in His life, death, resurrection, and ascension back to heaven as your Savior, great High Priest, and Advocate.
The ONLY way anyone can "believe on" Jesus is to believe that what He did in His life, death, resurrection, is to believe that that same life, death, and resurrection is YOUR life, death, and resurrection IN HIM! He is the Savior of the Whole World and the only way that could be done is if the whole world was placed in Him at the incarnation that then qualified Him to be the Savior of the World. To believe "on Jesus" is to believe ON what He accomplished for you during His life, death, and resurrection. To simply believe "in Him" is NOT believing "on Him"!
I can believe "in my neighbors" word that he/she will arrive on the agreed date, but my neighbor can have a personal emergency and then my belief in my neighbor suddenly disappears. However, if I can "believe on" my neighbor to without fail to make the appointed date set regardless of any situation that may arise, then my belief in my neighbor is set in stone and will not under any circumstances change. This is what it means to "believe on" Jesus, your belief is "set in stone" and NO circumstance that may arise in your life will change that belief, it is "set in stone" and unchangeable as long as you believe on Jesus. This is why Jesus used the phrase "believe on Me." You cannot believe in Jesus without believing on Him first, Just as you cannot have Him as your "example" without first having Him "as your Savior!" There is an ORDER to personal belief in Jesus Christ.
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
The STATEMENT: Is "ye also have seen me, and believe not" Jesus was telling them that they cannot receive Him by "simply seeing Him with their physical eyes". They must see Him through spiritual eyes in order to "believe on Him." To do that takes knowledge of what He has done for you during His life, death, and resurrection. When Jesus "lived" His life, YOU lived His life with Him IN HIM as He lived it. When Jesus died on the cross, YOU died with Him there IN HIM, when Jesus resurrected from the grave, YOU resurrected with Him IN HIM. This is why the scripture states: Eph 2:5,6 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened [Give new life or energy to] us together with [along with] Christ, (by [God the Father's] grace ye are saved IN HIM;) And hath raised us up together, [With HIM] and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We must see this truth in order to believe "ON" Jesus Christ.
Jesus said:
All that the Father giveth me [How many did the FATHER give to Jesus?] shall come to me; [Acknowledge Me] and him that cometh to me [That Makes a Decision for Me] I will in no wise cast out.
The QUESTION: Is "How MANY did the Father give Jesus?" The entire WORLD gave the Father to Jesus at His incarnation within the womb of Mary His mother. When Jesus was born, He was BORN as the human race the entire world of inhabitants from Adam to the last human being born on earth just before Jesus returns back to this earth. Was Jesus saying that ALL the World would be saved at the cross? YES absolutely, but NOT all the world will accept that salvation provided. The phrase Jesus used "shall come to me" is exactly what He meant. All the world "both the saved and the lost" will at some point IN time come to bow before Jesus the Savior of the World. David said: Psa 22:29(b) all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. Paul states: Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Php 2:10,11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The phrase Jesus used "him that cometh to me" and believes "ON HIM" He will "in no wise cast out." These will be those in the World that will accept the salvation provision made by Jesus for the entire world on the Cross. Many will claim I'm teaching "universal salvation" and they will do so because they can't understand what Jesus did on the cross. Not only did Jesus save the entire world, but His sacrifice cleansed the entire Universe of God from SIN and unrighteousness. It sounded the "death knell" for Satan himself and all the fallen angels when Jesus redeemed the world and the Universe of God on the cross.
The reason He came down.
For I came down from heaven, [Identified Himself as GOD] not to do mine own will, [Speaking as the "man" Jesus, NOT "speaking as" the divine Son of God here] but the will of him [the FATHER] that sent me.
Jesus came to do the Father's DIVINE will NOT His own human will. Didn't Jesus say: Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one. Then isn't the DIVINE will of Jesus the same as that of the DIVINE Father? YES! Absolutely. Then what did Jesus mean when He said "not to do mine own will" in this verse if He and the Father "are one"? In this verse, Jesus wasn't speaking of His divine will the ONE He has with the Father, He was speaking to "man" as a MAN Himself, and made it clear that as a MAN He was NOT telling them that it was His "human will" He wished to fulfill for them, but that of His and the Fathers "DIVINE" will which was their salvation.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, [It is the Father's WILL for ALL humanity to be redeemed through Jesus] that of all which he hath given me [The Entire WORLD] 2Pe 3:9(c) not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I should lose nothing, [It was NEVER the Fathers nor Jesus' will to "lose" a single person.] but should raise it up again at the last day.
[ALL will be, both the righteous and the wicked resurrected, Jesus will lose NONE, not one created human being ALL will be resurrected, but NOT all will be with Jesus in Paradise.] Any that will "BE LOST" will be lost because of their "own" personal choice ALONE to reject the salvation provision made for them. Jesus will NOT lose them, they will choose to reject Him and therefore be lost through their own decision.
The phrase "raise it up again at the last day" is the vindication in the end that Jesus will "lose nothing" He will never lose the ability to call forth "those for whom He died for" even if they are accounted as LOST to Him, they will answer His call and this is what He meant when He stated "I should lose nothing."
And this is the will of him [The
FATHER] that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, [Those who
accepted Him as SAVIOR] may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up
at the last day. [In
the FIRST resurrection]., The wicked later after the 1000 years in the SECOND resurrection. He will LOSE none, bu many will BE LOST by their own choice!
The phrase "everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him" Everyone who is able to "see" with spiritual eyes and then "believes on" what He has done for them. It is only these that Jesus Christ will NOT lose, and will "have everlasting life" the phrase "I will raise him up at the last day" is speaking of the "first resurrection" at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Joh 6:51 I am the living bread [NOT the Manna your forefathers ate] which came down from heaven: [As did that Manna] if any man eat of this [Spiritual] bread, [Choose ME] he shall live for ever: [Whereas ALL of your forefathers who ate the Manna are now dead] and the bread that I will give is my flesh, [My LIFE] which I will give for the life of the world. [EVERYONE without EXCEPTION]
Here it is made very clear for those who choose to see with spiritual eyes, that it was the "life of Jesus" that saved humanity. Many today are stuck on the literal "blood theory" that it was the shed literal blood of Jesus that saves them. This is true only in the aspect that that blood carried His life. The life is in the blood! Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it [the LIFE] to you upon the altar [the CROSS] to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood [the LIFE] that maketh an atonement for the soul.
· QUESTION: Is there a difference between the "life of Jesus" and the "blood spilled on the Cross?" YES! ABSOLUTELY!
· QUESTION: Do you believe that had you have been
standing under the Cross of Jesus Christ, and His "blood" dripped upon your
person, that that "blood" would have then "saved you?"
NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!
· QUESTION:
Can a person be saved by the "literal blood" of Jesus by it being applied to
the skin of the individual?
NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!
WHY? Because, one
must accept the life of Jesus Christ as his/her own otherwise, you cannot be
saved through His LIFE that that BLOOD contained. Had you been at the foot of
the cross the day Jesus died there, and you caught some drops of His blood in a
little container, then you took that literal blood to a friends house and
smeared it upon their skin, do you actually think it has any saving power in
and of itself just because it was the blood of Jesus? Or does one have to
accept Him as their Savior, as their Substitute, as their God and accept "His
life" as their own when they come to Him in their choice to believe (on) Him? It's the latter friend!
If Jesus Himself appeared to you with a vile of His own blood and poured it upon your head, without YOU accepting His life as your own life it would have NO saving qualities for you. There is NO efficaciousness in the literal blood, that blood only contained His life, His flesh, His perfect life lived in YOUR place, the LIFE He IMPUTES to YOU when you believe, and the LIFE He through the Spirit of God IMPARTS to you as you walk in the Spirit.
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it [the life of the flesh] to you upon the altar [the CROSS] to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood [the life of the flesh] that maketh an atonement for the soul. Jesus gave His life, His flesh for you, the blood happened to be a part of that giving of His life since "the life" is in the blood.
Had they just tied Jesus on the CROSS instead of beating Him and nailing Him to the cross, and left Him to die of "starvation" without shedding a SINGLE drop of His blood, His perfect LIFE lived in your place would still "SAVE YOU" as it is IMPUTED to you without a single drop of His blood leaving His body. It's NOT the literal blood but that of His life that saves you and me when we accept it as our own, are baptized and rise a "new person" IN HIM indwelled by the Holy Spirit until He returns.
